One artist I’ve been following for quite some time because of their Synthwave style is Beckett. He had been teasing a new album inspired by Japanese City Pop and today he opened up pre-orders for the album and released 2 advanced tracks! Tapeless – テープレス is going to be a 7 track album and I can’t wait to listen to the whole thing when it drops on May 31st!
I’ve linked one of the tracks for preview here. City – シティ has that City Pop vibe and feel while also having that Beckett synthwave flair as well. The track really does feel like you’re driving through a busy city, which for me is the hallmark of City Pop. Give it a listen and see what you think!
